Dorothy (Hammond) Bryant

BRUNSWICK - Dorothy H. Bryant, 89, formerly of South Paris, most recently of Topsham, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005 at Mid Coast Hospital.

She was born in Newcastle on Jan. 14, 1915, the daughter of Frank H. and Eva Winslow Hammond. She graduated from South Paris High School in 1932.

She was a homemaker until her children were teenagers, then she worked at area shoe shops.

She enjoyed wildlife, her home on Hooper Ledge allowed her to appreciate the wildlife around her.

She attended the First Congregational Church in South Paris and was a member of the Oxford County Extension Service.

She enjoyed gardening, playing cards and games and cooking. Her family and extended family were always her focus and very important to her.

She married Howard J. Bryant. He passed away in November of 1976.

She is survived by a daughter, Elaine B. Pomeroy and her husband, Gary J. of Springfield, Vt.; a son, Warren H. Bryant and his wife, Bethany G. of Topsham; four grandsons, Darin W. Bryant and his wife, Patricia, Mark B. Pomeroy and his wife, Kelly, Chris P. Bryant and his wife, Haila, and Michael C. Pomeroy and his wife, Mary Dan; nine great-grandchildren, Joshua, Nathan and Seth Bryant, Luke and Kyle Pomeroy, Ashley and Emily Bryant, and Maggie and Michaela Pomeroy; a brother, Robert S. Hammond of Doylestown, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held in the spring at Hillside Cemetery in South Paris, date and time to be announced.

Arrangements are under the direction of Weston Chandler Funeral Home, 45 Main St., South Paris.
