JOHN A. (JACK) SCHNEIDER

John "Jack" A. Schneider, age 81, of 1207 Orchard Drive, Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Saturday, June 23, 2007, at his residence.

John was born Jan. 20, 1926, in Manitowoc, son of the late Albert and Cora Plantico Schneider. He attended schools in Manitowoc and graduated with the class of 1944 from Lincoln High School.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Japan and the Pacific Theatre from 1945-47. After returning from service, he worked in Illinois for several years as a medical technician. He returned to Manitowoc and was employed at Manitowoc Engineering and the Manitowoc Company until his retirement.

On July 16, 1955, he married the former Evelyn Rathsack at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Northeim.

John was a Red Cross volunteer driver for over 18 years. He also was a member of the American Legion Drews-Bleser Post No. 88 and served on the funeral honor guard for many years. John was a charter member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. John enjoyed traveling, bowling, dartball and playing cards with family and
friends. Being an avid Packers fan, he enjoyed going to games for more than 30 years.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Evelyn, of Manitowoc; one son, Michael Schneider, Manitowoc; two brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law, Joseph and Vicki Rathsack, Manitowoc, Melvin and Charlotte Landt, Two Rivers, and Barbara Rathsask, Manitowoc; several godchildren, other nieces, nephews and friends
also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ben and Anna Rathsack; three brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Alvin and Veda Rathsack, Joseph and Marilyn Rader, and Donald Rathsack.

Funeral services will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1712 Menasha Ave., Manitowoc, on Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Richard Miller will officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Military graveside services will be accorded by the American Legion Drews-Bleser Post No. 88. Relatives and
friends may call on Wednesday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m.

The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the Schneider family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church or the donor's choice.
The family extends their special thanks to the wonderful staff at the Lombardi Cancer Center, Dr. Barylak and the VNA Hospice for their loving care and kindness.
