Mr. Calvin J. Herbst, 94, of 4200 Calumet Ave., Manitowoc, died Sunday, February 5,
1989 at the Manitowoc Health Care Center. Memorial services will be 1:30 pm Thursday
at Jens Funeral Home and Crematory, Manitowoc. Rev. Donald Schneider will officiate
with cremation having taken place and burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Herbst was born November 22, 1894, at Manitowoc, son of the late Frederic and
Anna Hintze Herbst. He married Margaret Dirkman. She preceded him in death. He then
married Laura Konopacki, August 10, 1942 and the couple resided here in Manitowoc.
Mr. Herbst was employed at Manitowoc Engineering until retiring at the age of 72.
Survivors include his wife, Laura of Diamond Springs, California; two daughters,
Claudia Neklason of Diamond Springs and Doris Herbst of Kohler, Wisconsin and a
granddaughter, Lisa Gustavson. He was preceded in death by three brothers.
Memorials would be appreciated to St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek.
