PIONEER DIES AT HOMESTEAD
Carl Eberhardt, 76, Dies At Place of His Birth
Carl Eberhardt, pioneer farmer of the county, died last night at the homestead
farm in the town of Newton where he was born 76 years ago. He suffered a stroke
last Sunday.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. from the home and at 2 p.m.
from the Wesley M.E. church in this city. Interment will be at Evergreen cemetery.
The deceased was born in Newton in 1858 on the present farm, which was operated
then by his father. He was married in 1884 to Adeliede Bruckschen and they took up
their home on the farm. Mrs. Eberhardt died three years ago.
Survivors are one son, Edwin, on the farm; a daughter, Mrs. Otto Duebner, city; a
brother, August, city; four sisters, Mrs. Henry Lehmkuhl, Mrs. Julius Buerstatte
and Mrs. Fred Wernecke, of this city, and Mrs. Minnie Bruckschen, St. Louis Mo.,
and three grandchildren.
The body will be removed to the home Saturday noon from the Wattawa, Urbanek and
Schlei funeral home.
