Olvis retired from Lucent Technologies(Western Electric) after 35 years of service. He was a Korean War veteran. He loved to travel, garden, and go on fishing trips with his friends.
Olvis is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen; a daughter, Carol Jones and her husband James, of Cypress; and granddaughter, Kayla Jones, of Austin. Also surviving is one sister, Norma Bender of Houston, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home on Sunday, August 12, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. A private graveside service for the family will be held at a later date.
