Nora Baker was born April 24, 1868, in Stanford, Monroe County, Indiana, the daughter of Howard Absalom Baker and Elizabeth Ann Freese. She was also the granddaughter of William and Ellen Sharpless Freese. On November 26, 1893, in Stanford, she married Dow Burgess Foster, son of Thomas Nesbit Foster and Elizabeth M. Oram Foster. They were the parents of 2 sons: Glenn Howard and Dale Thomas Foster. Nora passed away July 17, 1955, in Monroe County, and was buried on the 20th in Rose Hill Cemetery, Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana.

Obituary for Nora Baker Foster:

"Mrs. Foster Dies; Blind For 35 Years. Mrs. Nora B. Foster, 87, died Sunday, in her home at 315 East Smith. Mrs. Foster, the widow of Dow Foster, who died in 1928, was a former school teacher and one of the oldest members of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, Indiana University, chapter in Bloomington. She attended Indiana University and had taught school in the Richland and Van Buren Townships for more than 10 years. Her husband was a well-known school teacher and farmer in the Crossroads community. Mrs. Foster had been blind for 35 years, but maintained an active life until her recent illness. She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Rural Study Club. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m in the Greene and Harrell Chapel. Rev. Howard Anderson will officiate, and burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Survivors are two sons, Glen Foster, San Antonio, Texas, and Dale Foster, Mena, Arkansas; a sister, Mrs. John S. Mathews, Bloomington, one brother, Lon S. Baker, LaGrange, Illinois; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The body remains at the Greene and Harrell Funeral Home."
