On 18 May 1952, George fell from the steps of a bus at Auburn and Baxter Streets. He died four days later in Maumee Valley Hospital from a skull fracture suffered in that fall.
His obituary states that George had retired 15 years earlier from Gerity Polishing Co and had resided in Toledo for 63 years. In his younger days, George was active in many local singing groups and appeared frequently as a soloist. He was survived by sons, Robert and Archie, as well as four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
