Burmeister, Lucille F. 92, of Shelby, died Friday, May 9, 2008 at the Oceana County Medical Care Facility in Hart. She was born July 4, 1915 in Benona Township to Ira and Catherine (Moschke) Gifford. She married Walter Burmeister July 2, 1937. He passed away in 2001. She and her husband operated a fruit farm. Mrs. Burmeister was a member of the Shelby United Methodist Church and its Mary Martha Circle and United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Senior Hospital Auxiliary and the Shelby Ladies Literary Club.She enjoyed wintering in Florida and playing cards. Mrs. Burmeister is survived by her children, Dale (Judie) Burmeister of Shelby and Sharon (James) Ward of Douglas, Wyo.; grandchildren, Alan Burmeister of New Era, Tracey (Chris) Butler of Shelby, Lori Russell and Jeffrey Ward both of Douglas, Wyo.; great-grandchildren, Kevin and Kurt Burmeister, Zachary Butler and Rebecca Russell; step grandchildren, Lacey (Chad) Wierengo and Gary Stark and step great-grandchildren, Camden and Lauran Wierengo. She was also preceded in death by her parents and brother, Edward Gifford and sister, Florence Gifford.
