Stanley J. Kowalewski, 86, of West Tract Road, Cromwell, husband of the late Chessie (Dobrosielski) Kowalewski, died peacefully on Sunday, (September 21, 2003) at Middlesex Hospital, Middletown.

Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Francis and Marjanna (Indelak) Kowalewski and had lived in Cromwell most of his life. Mr. Kowalewski was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II and was employed at the U.S. Post Office in Cromwell for 32 years, retiring in 1972. He was a member and former chief of the Cromwell Auxiliary Police, member of Knights of Columbus DeSoto Council#6, Cromwell, American Legion Carlson-Sjovall Post 105, Cromwell, and St. John Church, Cromwell.

He is survived by three daughters, Elaine S. Tepper and her husband, David of Cortlandt Manor, NY, Kathleen A. Kowalewski and Mary Ellen Kowalewski both of Cromwell; a brother, Henry Kowalewski of Cromwell; two grandsons, Michael L. and Alexander J. Tepper. He was predeceased by a brother, Frank Knoll.

Funeral services will be held from the Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main Street, Cromwell on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 9 a.m. and at St. John Church, Cromwell at 10 a.m. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain.
