Leonard R. Haupt, LCDR USNR (Ret.), 83, died Oct. 1, 2007, presently of The Moorings of Arlington Heights, longtime resident of Glenview, dearly loved husband of Natalie; beloved father of Nancie Mitchell, Scott (Sandra) Mitchell, Holly Haupt, Kathy (Mark) Shine, Edward (Irene) Haupt and Ellen (Tony) Myers; proud grandpa of 12, Susannah (Luciano) Boullon, Stephanie (Kevin) Boesel, Sarah Simons, Christopher (Megan) Tillson, Kari Mitchell, Rachel and Dan Shine, Adrian, Elise Haupt, Adam, Logan and Brian Myers, Doting great-grandpa of five, Meredith Dinehart, Mackenzie and Allyson Boullon, Kolby and Tyler Boesel; loving uncle of many. Len is survived by his sister, Carol H. White of Vermont. Preceded in death by Richard (Lettie), Paul (Marion), Julia (Charles) Kemnitz and Corinne (Fred) Hagedorn. A WW II aviator, he flew PBM aircraft in the Pacific and later spent 32 years in the teaching profession, including 21 happy years as Principal at Westbrook School in District 34. Memorial Service at St. Peter Community Church, 2700 Willow Rd., Northbrook, IL 60062, at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6. Interment private. Gifts may be made to St. Peter Church or to Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, 410 S. Hager Ave., Barrington, IL 60010.
