Mrs. Lucy Andrews, 67 Supervisor at the Kansas Children's Receiving Home died unexpectedly at 4:40 p.m. Friday at the Receiving Home following a heart attack. She resided at 1026 Kearney here.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 today at the Methodist church in Effingham with the the Rev. Hugh Stouppe, pastor of the Atchison Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery at Effingham. The Warren funeral home at Nortonville is in charge of arrangements.
Born at Monrovia, Feb. 14, 1891, Mrs. Andrews was a daughter of Benjamin E. and Mary Bonnel. She was reared at Monrovia and attended the Atchison county schools. For a number of years she resided at Valley Falls.
Prior to coming to Atchison and her position at the Receiving Home, Mrs. Andrews was a stenographer at the Army post at Ft. Leavenworth. She had been at the home for over 10 years.
Mrs. Andrews was a kind and sympathetic woman and beloved by the children and other employes at the Receiving Home. She also lavished much attention on her nieces and nephews, visiting them at every opportunity.
she leaves three sisters, Mrs. Grace woodard, Dallas, Tex., Mrs E. G. Schneider, Monrovia, and Mrs. George (Melinda) Calvert, 904 North Tenth, Atchison; a brother, Claude E. Bonnel, Loveland, Colo.; four nephews and eight nieces.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mrs. Charles (Edith) Brown, Nellie E. Bonnel and Mrs. H. P. glaspey.
Mrs. Andrews was a member of the PEO, Eastern Star and the Valley Falls Methodist church.
