Roy graduated from Mannford High School and attended NEOSU at Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He was a Juvenile Specialist with the State of Oklahoma. He worked at Hissom Memorial Center and Lloyd E. Rader Correctional Center in Sand Springs and NORCE in Enid. He was a member of Mannford Church of Christ. Roy never met a stranger and will be greatly missed by his loving family and many, many friends. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Janie Varnell, of the home; sons, Roy Varnell, Jr. and wife Janet of Mannford, OK, Brian Lee Varnell of Coweta, OK and Darrin Alan Varnell and wife Chastity of Terlton, OK; daughter, Penny Anita Lowry, McLoud, OK; father, Mansel Varnell, Mannford, OK; sisters, Linda Benham and husband Herbert, Cumberland Furnace, TN, Beverly Grigar, Rosenberg, TDX and Lori Varnell, Mannford, OK; grandchildren, Aaron Daniels, Lauren Jade LaFever, Kody Lowry, Rachel, Corbin and Colt Varnell. He was preceded in death by his mother, Grace Dodd Varnell; his brother, Rex Varnell; his niece, Tonya Doty; and his in-laws, Louis and Juanita Carter. Service will be Monday, Aug. 13, 2012 at Mannford Church of Christ in Mannford, OK. Tony Kessee will officiate. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Mannford, OK.
