Susie Louise (Jost) Schmidt was born July 26, 1907, in Hillsboro, Kansas, to Peter S. and Margaret (Klassen) Jost. she attended Creswell Grade School. On October 16, 1927, she married Dan S. Schmidt. They lived on several farms throughout the Marion County area until 1952 when they moved into Marion when Dan went to work for the Co-op Dairy in Hillsboro. In 1953 they bought a house and moved to Hillsboro. Dan passed away on December 8, 1976. Susie has lived the last five and on half years at the Salem Home in Hillsboro where she kept busy crocheting. She loved to have her many friends stop by and visit.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Dan; brothers Peter, Carl, Harold and Jake. Survivors are sons, Kenneth R. of Marion, Donald W. of Wichita, Daughters, Naomi R. Baker of Harlingen, Texas, and Joyce Y. Eppstein of Llano, California; 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; brothers, John of Moundredge, Kansas; David and June of Marion, Kansas, and Herb of Lincoln, Nebraska; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on November 28, 1992 at the Hillsboro United Methodist Church, Hillsboro, Kansas with the Rev. Dick Near officiating. Burial was in the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Cemetery.
