Marcus Peter Walker, son of John Hinton Walker and Nancy Ellenor Honnell Walker, came from Oklahoma on a train exursion run by the Tatum Brothers to see land in South Dade, Florida. If ten acres of land were bought at $50 an acre all expenses would be paid by Tatum Brothers. Marcus bought ten acres and returned to his family in Oklahoma. That winter he, his brother Clovia, nd his parents rented a immigrant car,filled it with their furniture, a team of horses, a buggy, and a wagon. They arrived November 16, 1911 and Marcus and Clovis built a small house.Marcus and Clovis stayed in Homestead but his parents went home to Oklahoma.Marcus married Ollie Virginia Caves in 1913.They had three children...Russell born in 1915, Johnny born in 1916, and Virginia born in 1923. Marcus Walker suffered from Parkinson's disease and died in 1958
