J. Ben Fanette, 92, of Beaumont died May 3, 2003 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital. A native of Fields, Louisiana and lifelong resident of Beaumont, he retired from Gulf States Utilities as director of real estate. After his retirement with Gulf States, he was associated with American Real Estate for twenty-five years.

Mr. Fanette is survived by his wife, Lucy Fanette of Beaumont; son, James Fanette, Jr. and his wife Debbie of Beaumont; daughters, Katherine Fouts and her husband Bill of Port Arthur, Margie Reeves and her husband Les of Bozeman, Montana, and Mary Ellen Fanette of New York, New York; sister, Theresa Turner and her husband George of Beaumont; brother, Irwin Fanette and his wife Mickey of Port Arthur; grandsons, David Fouts, Phil Fouts, Fred Fanette, and Ben Fanette III; and great grandchildren, Hannah Fouts, Noah Fouts, and Taylin Fanette.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2003 at St. Anne Catholic Church followed by burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Broussard`s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont.
