Hattie M. Barder Arnold, 101, died at 2:55 PM Wednesday, March 27, 1985, in St. Elizabeth Hospital, where she had been a patient since Sunday. Born March 2, 1884, she was a native and livelong resident of Lafayette, and had been residing at Americana Healthcare.
On March 5, Mrs. Arnold appeared on the NBC 'Today' show with Willard Scott who was at Tippecanoe Mall for its grand re-opening.
On Jan. 2, 1907, she was first married to Harry P. Howell, who died Aug. 17, 1916. She was then married to Albert G. Arnold on Aug. 28, 1929, and he died Jan. 19, 1948.
Surviving are two sons, Harry J. Howell of Fort Wayne and Arthur L. Howell of Port St. Lucie, FL; six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, three brothers, one sister, a half-sister, and a half-brother.
