Funeral Services Held For William D. Ramey, 58, Former Area Resident

Funeral services were held in the Evangelical Free Church at McHenry, N.Dak., Tuesday, Aug. 23, for William D. Ramey, a former resdient of the Ree Heights and Miller area, who died Aug. 18 in a Mayville, N.Dak. hospital.

Burial was in the Ree Heights Cemetery where committal services were held at 3:30 p.m. the day of the funeral services.

Ramey had suffered a heart attack in November of 1965 and had been forced to quit work. He had been hospitalized for six wseeks at the Veterans' Hospital in Minneapolis prior to being a patient at Mayville for three weeks.

Willam Douglas Ramey, the son of Robert and Zua Ramey, was born at Ree Heights August 25, 1907. The family moved to Faulkton when he was 12 and he attended school there. He was employed in the Miller and Faulkton area for a number of years. He was married to Margarite Meehan at Redfield April 15, 1933. They made their home at Miller and Refield where he was a well driller and a flight instructor. In World War II he was employed as a civilian flight instructor for two years before going into the Navy where he served two years.

In 1951, the family moved to McHenry where he continued the well drilling and plumbing business and his interest in flying.

Ramey was a past president of the North Dakota Well Drillers Association, a member of Odd Fellows Lodge, and the Evangelical Free Church at McHenry.

Surviving are the widow; four children; Mrs. Isabel Prescott, Mayville, N. Dak.; Robert, McHenry; Mrs. Alex (Kathryn) Panton, Jr., Page, N.Dak., and Mrs. Joseph (Joann) Ryan, Witchita, Kans.; three sisters: Mrs. Gene (Dora) Hall, Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Charles (Margaret) Herford, Hamilton, Mont.; and Mrs. Louis Nance, Hot Springs; two brothers: George, Redfield; and Roy, Enumclaw, Ore.; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
