Effie Opal Washburn, 88, died at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday, March 16, 1999 at the Heartland Nursing Center.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday. March 19, 1999 at the Markwell & Son Funeral Home in Casey with Rev. Kevin Snmall and Rev. Ronnie Gross officiating. Burial will be in the Casey-Cumberland Cemetery. A visitation service held from 5 to 8 p.m. on the home. Pallbearers for the service will be Robert Boyd, Brent Mason, Ken Whitton, Ed Fidler, Roger Cory, and Bobby Dale Davidson.

Effie Opal Washburn was born on November 15, 1910 in Jasper County, the daughter of Bead Usher Boyd and Tincie Alice (McDaniel) Boyd. She married Otis Stanley Washburn on October 28, 1933. He preceded her in death on January 17, 1987.

Survivors include one son, Allen Boyd and his wife, Loretta of Casey; two granddaughters, Linda Mason and her husband, Brent of Casey, and Brenda Whitton and her husband, Ken of Casey; a grandson, Robert Boyd and his wife, Vicki of Casey; four great grandsons; three step great grandsons; one step great grand daughter; and one step great grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and six brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Washburn was a homemaker and she loved to sew. She was a member of the New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Memorials may be made to the New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
