Henry was born with the name Hans Olsen on the Dæhlin farm in Lunner parish, the sixth of seven children born to Ole Eriksen and Ingeborg Olsdatter Dæhlin. He left Norway in 1883, coming to Monroe, WI. Here his name became Henry Otto. He married Anna Hansdatter Wang Anderson, a young widow, on 16 Jul 1891 at Wiota Lutheran Church in South Wayne, Lafayette County, WI and they had two sons. Anna died in 1927 and Henry married a second time to Alice Peterson Shields. By the 1940 census they were no longer together and Alice was later buried with the name Shields, not Daehlin.
