Henry Ritter, aged 87 years, a GAR veteran, who spent 50 years of his life in Wakarusa, died Monday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs Mark Johnson in Elkhart, following a two years' illness of infirmities.
Mr Ritter was born in Wayne county, Ohio, June 13, 1839, and was brought to Wakarusa when a young lad by his parents.
He lived here until about 33 years ago when he moved to Lawton, Mich. He went to Elkhart to his daughter's home three years ago.
He was a member of the GAR post here.
Surviving Mr Ritter, besides Mrs Johnson, are two other daughters, Mrs Jacob Swarm of near this place and Mrs Sarah Baldwin of Lawton; four sons, Judson J Ritter of this place, Albert and Walter Ritter of Lawton, and Reuben Ritter of Flint.
Burial will take place Thursday afternoon at Lawton, following short services at the Johnson home at 11:30 am.
