Addie Viola Syme Dyches, 92, of Moroni, Utah passed away Thursday, September 16, 2004 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. Addie was born December 14, 1911 in Moroni, Utah to Theron Richard Syme and Addie Viola Nielsen. She was the oldest of five children and married Melvin Roswell Dyches August 12, 1930; solemnized in the Manti Temple May 15, 1965. Addie was a lifelong resident of Moroni. She was known for her generosity, kindness, and service to all. She was hard working and worked at the Moroni Feed Company Turkey Hatchery until she was 83 years old. She had a deep love for the members of her family. She was an excellent cook and seamstress. She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in three Relief Society presidencies, as a primary scout leader for over 20 years, and remained a faithful visiting teacher her entire adult life. Addie loved doing temple work. Her strong testimony of the Gospel and life of service were a great example to her family and friends. She was someone who truly lived her religion. One of her loves was watching her boys and grandchildren play sports; she attended hundreds of games in person. She also enjoyed watching BYU and the Utah Jazz on TV. She was affectionately known to many as "Grandma Addie." Addie is survived by her seven children, Merril Dyches of Farmington, Utah, Bernell (Kay) Dyches of Moroni, Utah, Grace (Bert) Christensen of Richfield, Utah, Terry Dyches, Brent (Sally) Dyches, George (Peggy) Dyches, and LaMar Dyches all of Moroni, Utah. She is also survived by her brother, Clayton (Helen) Syme of Fountain Green, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Gene and Elmer Syme; sister, Ruth Moss; daughter-in-law, Esther Dyches; and grandchildren, Cody and Shelly Dyches. Funeral services held Monday, September 20, 2004, at the Moroni LDS Stake Center. Interment at the Moroni City Cemetery under the direction of Rasmussen Mortuary.
