Obit excerpt: prominent in business circles, both as a merchant and grain and seed buyer since coming to this county after the war. Enlisted in 90 days service in the War of the Rebellion while on a visit to the state of New York and reenlisted in Co A, 2nd W. Va. During this time his parents had moved from Ohio to this co and located at Jeffersonville and when he was discharged from the army he came here and has made his home since...spent most of the time at Jeffersonville, resided short time at Johnsonville and also Fairfield.

He married Julia Ann Vertrees in White County Illinois.
Wayne co history says Frederic and Julia had five children; three living in 1884: John Fannie and Hattie.
