The Rev. Thomas Wayne Atkins, 61, a United Methodist Church Minister, died Tuesday in a local hospital. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today in Graham Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Atkins was born in Rimini, a son of Thomas L. Atkins and Goldie V. Reed Atkins. He was an Air Force veteran in the Korean War and seved with Mount Croghan, Ebenezer, Bethel, and Friendship United Methodist Churches. He also served served with Woods Chapel United Methodist Chapel in Greer, and Willow Springs, Hebron, and El Bethel Churches. He was an instructor with Williamsburg County Technical College.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce R. Atkins; two sons, Michael Atkins and Jeff Atkins; a daughter, Cindy Atkins; a stepson, Winston C. Tisdale Jr. of Kingstree; a stepdaughter, Lisa T. Phillips of Kingstree; a brother, Lowell Atkins of Saint Stephen; and two stepgrandchildren.
