Margaret Deininger Carlson, elder daughter of Christopher and Caroline Roedieger Deininger, was born in Kankakee, Ill., Jan. 1st, 1885, and died at her home near Donovan, Ill., Feb. 6th, 1935, at the age of 50 years, 1 month and 5 days. Death was due to pneumonia and a weak heart.
When she was less than a year old her parents moved to their new home one mile east of Donovan and she has lived on this homestead ever since.
She was united in marriage to Alfred Carlson on June 27, 1918, establishing their home at once on the old home farm. To this union were born three daughters, the eldest, Gladys, passing on in infancy. Ruth Eleanor aged 14, and Vera Margaret, aged 8, survive.
In early infancy, Mrs. Carlson was baptized in the Evangelical church but all during her youth and adult life, she has been a sympathizer with, and a worker in the Christian church.
She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and especially enjoyed having a part in its benevolent work.
As a child she showed a decided taste for music and became a talented pianist, giving instructions on the piano until the cares of home forced her to disband her class.
While she was a home-loving woman and derived her greatest joy in caring for her loved ones, Mrs. Carlson was very interested in the welfare of her friends and neighbors, and was always ready to assist them in every way possible.
Her mother passed away in October 1916.
Left to mourn her loss are the husband, two daughters, her devoted sister, Mrs. Olive Geyer, her aged father and step-mother, and Vernon Deininger, a cousin who was reared form infancy in her parents' home; also a host of other relatives and friends.
A good woman has gone to her reward. She will be sadly missed in her home and in the community of which she was a part.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock in the Christian church, which was filled with relatives and friends who had come to pay their last respects to the deceased. The Rev. Geo. Woodman of Chicago Heights, a former pastor, officiated. Mrs. Harold Loblaw and Miss Edna Waterstradt, with Miss Helen Loblaw at the piano sang "Beautiful Isle," "The Old Rugged Cross," and "In the Sweet By and By." The many beautiful floral offerings were carried by the Misses Helen Loblaw, Allegra Wilson, Almeda Johnston, Arline Peterson, Mildred Barnlund, Frieda Seward, Velma Johnson and Marie Blakley. The pallbearers were Alfred Larson, Geo. Barnlund, Walter Askew, Harry Askew, William Bard and Arthur Barnlund. Interment was made in Prairie Dell cemetery beside her infant daughter.
Among the out-of-town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Roy Kramer and Mrs. Connie of Ashland, Ky; Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Melville Ashcraft, Mrs. and Mrs. Vernon Deininger, Geyer Carr, Mr. and Mrs. O.
