Evelyn A. Burmeister, age 95, of Rhinelander, died on June 26, 2009 at the Friendly Village Nursing Home in Rhinelander.
She was born on August 25, 1913 in Rhinelander to Alfred and Ida (Eliason) Peterson. Evelyn was a lifelong resident of Rhinelander.
She graduated from the Rhinelander High School in 1931 and then was employed by the St. Mary's Hospital for many years, retiring in the mid 1970's.
She was also a lifelong member of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church and in earlier years she was active with Sunday School and the Ladies groups. Evelyn also enjoyed being an active member of the Rebekah's when they were still meeting in Rhinelander.
She is survived by her daughter Nancy O'Brien of Bracketville, TX, her five grandchildren William (Sharon) O'Brien, Shawn Fechner, Michael (Bee) O'Brien, Kelly Haughton, and Thomas (Patricia) O'Brien, fourteen great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and numerous Nieces and Nephews.
Evelyn was preceded in death by two sisters Linnea O'Brien and Walberg Wentz and two brothers Del and Paul Peterson. Visitation for Evelyn will be held from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM with funeral services at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 3, 2009 at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Reverend Norman Peterson will officiate. Interment will be in the Forest Home Cemetery. The Carlson Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for the Burmeister family.
