Charles W. Marks, from Greentop, Missouri enlisted on June 7, 1911 at Jefferson Barracks, St. Louis, MO. He was 26 years and 10 months of age. He was discharged (Honorable) on June 6, 1914 at Vancouver Barracks, Washington with the rank of Corporal, Company H. DOB is estimated to be September 1884 based on this data. His occupation prior to enlistment was "Laborer" and was reported to be 5' 7" tall.

Charles first wife was Jessie Francis Horton and they were married 13 September 1906 in Adair County, Missouri. Francis divorced Charles prior to Nov 1912 as she married a William Hewitt on 25 Nov 1912 in Idaho. Charles second wife was Ruth W ** (maiden name unknown), she was born about 1894 in Michigan (memorial #94670660).
Per the 1900 Census Charles was 16 and lived in Polk, Adair County, Missouri. The 1910 Census shows Charles (25) was married to Jessie (22) and lived in Salt River Twp, Schuyler County, Missouri. His WWI Registration form indicates he lived in Bartlesville, Washington County, OK on 12 September 1918. The 1930 Census shows Charles (45) and Ruth (36) living in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. The 1940 Census shows Charles (55) and Ruth (46) living in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. Charles WWII Registration Card (1942) indicates his residence as Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan, and his place of birth Greentop, Schuyler County, Missouri on 16 July 1884. The next of kin indicates an Alta Stafford (niece) and not his wife Ruth. Unknown if Charles divorced Ruth prior to 1942.
