Funeral services, for John L. Dillon, 74, of Nampa, who died Friday, May 6, 1908, at home, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, at the Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
Pastor Earl D. Shaffer of the Oregon Trail Church of God, Caldwell, will officiate. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell.
Mr. Dillon was born Sept. 12, 1913 at Victoria, Texas. He was reared and educated in Oklahoma and graduated from high school at Maud, Okla. He married Vida Harney on May 18, 1932, at Leedy, Okla., and the couple moved to Parma in 1936.
He worked for the Wilson Brothers Grocery Store in Parma and later as a driver for King Packing Co. in Nampa and for Boise-Winnemmucca Stages. In 1945, he became manager for the Lindsey and Sons Ford dealership and became the owner in 1950.
He began Dillon-Mattson auto sale in 1952 and had owned and operated Dillon Auto Sales from 1955 to the present.
Mr. Dillon maintained his highly respected and successful dealership with a personal commitment to his loyal customers, whom he considered to be the reason for his success.
He was an avid auto enthusiast and race car fan, sponsoring sons and a grandson at the Meridian auto races.
He was a member of the Oregon Trail Church of God, where he was very active in fund-raising events.
He is survived by his wife, Vida, of Nampa, three sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Virginia Dillon of Caldwell, Jim and Kaaran Dillon of Nampa and J. Dwayne and Glenda K. Dillon of Caldwell; a sister, Ethel, of Seminole, Okla.; six grandchildren and three great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, JoAnna Fay, and two brothers.
Memorials may be made to the Oregon Trail Church of God building fund.
Friends may call Monday from 1 to 8 p.m. and the family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
