Robert was apprenticed to a candlemaker as a young man and at the age of 18 ran away to America. He was a spare man with blue eyes.
He married in Mercer Co., KY, Rhoda Conway Long (buried at Ground Family Cem.); in 1818, they settled in the Three Forks area, of Warren Co., KY, and had the following 10 children: John, Mary, Henry, Edward, Drucilla, Margaret, Rhoda, Robert William, and Harrison. The children moved to IL, TX, OR, and MO, with only 3 staying in KY: Mary, Rhoda, and William.
When Robert died in 1850, he left his land and the care of his wife and daughter Rhoda to his son Harrison. Harrison wanted to go to TX to join his brother, and William took over the land and the care of his mother and sister. His will is recorded in Warren Co., KY, Book D. p. 289.
