Lauretta F. Kwiatek, 84, formerly of Peru and Utica, died Thursday, Aug. 18, at La Salle Healthcare Center, where she resided for the past eight months.
Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Mueller Funeral Home in Peru and at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church in Peru. The Rev. Henry Fritz, OSB, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Utica. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with a scripture service at 5 p.m.
Mrs. Kwiatek was born Jan. 11, 1921, in Troy Grove to William J. and Vernice (Crane) Dana. Her mother died when she was six weeks old and she was raised in Utica by her uncle and aunt, John and Catherine McCabe.
She was a graduate of LPO Junior College and received her bachelor's degree from Illinois State University. She was a retired elementary school teacher, secretary and nurse's aide. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church and the Altar and Rosary Society, and was a volunteer for many school and religious programs, including PTA, CCD and RCIA.
Mrs. Kwiatek is survived by six sons, Mark Dana of Peru, Russell (Leilani) DuBois of California, Charles DuBois of Peru, Ronald (Lynn) Ehlers of Elburn, Michael Kwiatek of Spring Valley and Elliott (Renee) Kwiatek of Peru; three daughters, Susan (Henry) Over of Mahomet, Michelle (Ronald) Woodshank of Peru and Mary (Christian) Jauch of Peru; 27 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three husbands, Otto Holtz, Charles DuBois and Ignatius Kwiatek; two daughters, Vernice Safranski and Christine Wenzel-Wolff; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society, Illinois Valley Hospice or the donor's choice.
