Mary Adelia Perkins parents are Reuben Perkins and Mariah Rhea. Mary Adelia Perkins married Samuel Manche Bushong on February 15, 1877 in Mercer County, MO. The couple had 5 children - Fred Bushong, Pearl Bushong Crist, Edgar Bushong, Edna Bushong Books, Sylvia Bushong Morrow.

"On 24 Mar 1900, the pale horse and his rider made their appearance at the happy home of S.M. Bushong in Marshall County, Kansas and left sorrow and misery in their path by taking the loving wife and mother to a home beyond the skies.

Mary Bushong, the subject of this sketch, was the daughter of Reuben and Mariah Perkins, deceased; was born 6 Jan 1855, and in the year 1871 was marred to Samuel Bushong. To this union five children were born - two sons and three daughters, all of whom survive her.

In 1891 they removed to Marshall County, KS, where they have since resided. Aunt Mary had been sick for several weeks with fever. All that medical skill could do and loving hands could offer was shown her, but on 24 Mar 1900 she passed over the dark river. God knows that our sympathies go out to the broken hearted husband and children, for we know that a mother's presence is the sunshine of a home and God alone can comfort them in the assurance that the wife and mother awaits them on the other shore. Aunt Mary united with the Christian Church at Goshen when quite young, where she has since been identified.

Realizing that the end was near she gave minute instruction as to the care of little 7 year old Sylvia, who was the idol of the mother's heart. This dear sister, although full of life and sunshine, looked upon this life as a stern reality and persistently done her part as best she could as a friend to all that was good and ennobling. She has left a void enshrined in our memories that none can fill, but while she has gone and cannot return, thanks be to God, we can go to her if we live faithful. We tender our heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved husband and children and a large circle of relatives and friends.

May God by His Grace sustain them. W.R.M."

They had the following children: Frederick LeRoy born 25 Jan 1878; Ethel Pearl born 28 Jun 1879; Edgar Clarence born 15 Sep 1881; Twins Edgar Clarence and Edna Clare born 15 Sep 1881; and Sylvia Zolo born 23 Oct 1892
