Bertha Wallis was the daughter of Joseph William "Barlow" Wallis and his wife, Artie Susan (Kennedy) Wallis. She was married 21 Sep 1913 to Gaither Billings, soon after her sixteenth birthday. On 21 Aug 1914 Bertha gave birth to a son who was named Theodore Douglas Billings. She died of typhoid fever on 27 Dec 1916, only six days following the birth of a stillborn son. Bertha (Wallis) Billings was buried near her parents at the Pond Hill Cemetery in McMinn Co., TN.
