Helen J. Panek Lesovsky, daughter of John and Minnie Brandt Panek, was born August 19, 1912, at rural Cuba, Kansas, and died February 26, 1997, at the Republic County Hospital, Belleville, Kansas at the age of 84 years, eight months and 19 days.

She attended Mount Pleasant School at Washington, Kansas, then moved back to Cuba, and attended Cuba Schools.

She was employed in Whole Sales Grocery in Omaha and Chicago. After moving back to Cuba, she worked in the Cuba Café for many years.

She was united in marriage to Vernon L. Lesovsky on November 6, 1952.

She was a member of the Cuba Chapter No. 365, Order of Eastern Star, and served as Worthy Matron for many years. After the Cuba Chapter closed, she joined the Opel Chapter No. 115 in Belleville, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Vernon in 1989, two brothers, Edward Panek, Ladimer (Icie) Panek, and a sister Elsia Fuqua. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Mary Panek, Warren, Ohio, two nephews and one niece.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 1, 1997, at 2 p.m., at the Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas, with Rev. Arlys Wilbur and Mr. Henry Strnad officiating. Burial was made in Tabor Cemetery. Eastern Star Service by Opel Chapter No. 115, Belleville, Kansas.
