J. P. Davis, 81, Dies in Lawrence
He married Fannie Jane Ballard 28 AUG 1901
Jasper Preston Davis, 81, Route 2, Monticello, died at 12:30 p.m. Sunday in the Lawrence County Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He was born Sept. 3, 1885, the son of Charles ( Charlie ) Taylor Davis and Amanda Melissa Miller also deceased.
Survivors include three sons, J. C. Davis, Tylertown, C. P. Davis and Jewell P. Davis both of Monticello; four daughters, Mrs. Velma Ward, Mrs. Beulah Neal, Mrs. Ollie Reid and Mrs. Hazel Williamson, all of Monticello; 74 great grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Services were conducted at 3 p.m. Monday from the Methodist Church of Monticello by the Revs. C. M. Walley and Charles. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery.
Pallbearers were John Neal, Jimmy Ray Davis, Buddy Ward, Gerald Davis, Davis Neal, Sonny Charles Davis.
