DEATH TO CYRUS HAMLER
Civil War Veteran Was Inmate for Thirty Years--Family Here.
Cyrus E[ugene] Hamler, Civil War veteran and member of the Home for the past thirty years, died at the home hospital at 9 o'clock last night after an illness of several months of bronchitis. Funeral services, with military honors, will be held at the Soldiers' Home. Burial will be in Mount Muncie cemetery. He was 79 years old.
Mr. Hamler was born in Warsaw, Ind., September 13, 1840. Soon after the Civil War he came to Kansas, first settling in Fort Scott. Thirty-three years ago, the family moved to Leavenworth, and three years later he entered the Soldiers' Home. The records of the Home show that no complaints have been made against Mr. Hamler during the thirty years he has been a member of it.
He is survived by his wife, living at 100 Lawrence avenue, three sons, Ernest, Walter and Sam Hamler, of the home address, and one daughter, Mrs. Alice Powers, of 618 Quincy street. Seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive him.
