Charles Raymond Brooks was born in Shelby County, Indiana one of four children born to James B. & Malinda (Hendrickson) Brooks. Charles married Dessie Irene Hatten Nov 19, 1904 in Shelby County, Indiana. The couple were the parents of 10 children. Charles was a lifelong farmer eventually purchasing his own farm in Lewisville, Henry County, Indiana about 1932. After the passing of his first wife Dessie in 1942, Charles remarried Angela M. Huegel in Henry County, Indiana on June 12, 1943.
