CLAIRE POPE 96, of Delray Beach and former 40 years resident of Palm Beach passed away peacefully on July 11, 2003. Born March 17, 1907 in Bay City, Ml, daughter of Leonard & Alice (nee: McKenzie) Rertshafer. Claire was a graduate of the McDonald School of Design in New York City. She was a clothing designer for Surry Classics and Pat Hartley Co. both of NY City. In 1944 she married Thomas E. Pope who predeceased her. She was a member of the Everglades Club of Palm Beach, Beach Club and Bath & Tennis Club of Palm Beach. Claire was a member of Bethesda by the Sea and in Delray Beach the 1st Presbyterian Church. She is survived by a niece of Cheboygan, MI and a great niece of Michigan. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 18, 2003 at 1:00 PM at Harbour's Edge (Salt Water Room), 401 East Linton Blvd., Delray Beach.
