Hiram Bowles, 89, Texas county resident for 45 years, died Saturday morning in Clayton, N. M, in the home of his daughter, Mrs. William E. James, after an extended illness.
Funeral services have been tentatively set for Monday afternoon in the Bethel Baptist church east of Hardesty. Moore Mortuary will be in charge of interment in Range cemetery.
Bowles filed on a claim 11 miles east of Hardesty in 1904. He is survived by five sons, Tilford of Bates, Ore.; Neal of Oreville, Calif.; Ernest, Hardesty; James, Lakin, Kans.; and John, Wichita, Kans.; three daughters -- Mrs. W. E. James, Clayton N. M. ; Mrs. Charles Boswell, Spur Lake, N. M.; and Mrs. Grace Gilbert, Liberal, Kans.; and 26 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
