David married Marion G Barkley on 5 June 1921 in Chaffee, Scott County, Missouri. Marion's father worked for the railroad as an engineer and foreman. David E Harrison was also working for the railroad by 1925, as a machinist (source: U.S. Cities Directories for Sedalia, Missouri). By 1930 the young couple had moved to Enid, Garfield County, Oklahoma where David was working as a machinist for the railroad (source: 1930 Federal Census). By 1945, the couple had moved to Long Beach, California where David worked for Hughes Aircraft. David had siblings living in northern California at this time. His younger brother Marvin would follow about 1950 to southern California, to also work for Hughes Aircraft in Long Beach.
David E and Marion (Barkley) Harrison had no children. They cared for Marion's widowed mother for many years, who came to live with them in California. Marion continued living in California after David's passing in 1967, until her own death in 1987. She never remarried.
