Civil War Union Army Officer. He was a New Jersey Militia officer at the outbreak of the Civil War. He was enroled on April 27, 1861, and mustered in as Major and Brigade Inspector on the staff of Brigadier General Theodore Runyon on April 30, 1861. He served until he resigned on May 8, 1861. Later served as Captain, Co. D, 31st NJ Infantry, from September 17, 1862, to June 24, 1863.
