Engineers Meet Death.

COLUMBUS, O., Aug. 11. -

The Toledo and Ohio passenger train, due to arrive here at 9:30 p.m. from the north, collided with a yard engine at the Sandusky street crossing. Engineer Charles Vance was instantly killed and Engineer C.E. Cullison fatally injured.

Result From the Collision on the T.& O.C. at Columbus-Funeral of Engineer Vance

The remains of Engineer Vance, who was killed in the crash, were brought here Tuesday evening and taken to his late home on Market street. The funeral took place Wednesday afternoon. The cortege left the house at one o'clock, and the body was taken to Rushsylvania where the funeral was held, the interment being in Equality cemetery. Rev. Burke, of Bellefontaine, conducted the services.

Deceased was about 29 years of age. His wife and child who were absent on a visit, returned home Tuesday evening.

It was indeed a sad scene that met them on their return.

A message received here Tuesday announced the sad death of Charley Vance, formerly of this place, and brother of Mrs. Jas. Weed, in a wreck at Columbus, Ohio.

The following account appeared in Wednesday's dailies. He had many friends here who will deeply regret to hear of his sudden death.

Columbus, O., Aug. 10. -

The Toledo & Ohio Central passenger train due to arrive here at 9:30 tonight from the north collided with a yard engine hauling a cut of cars at the Sandusky street crossing.

Engineer Chas. Vance of the yard engine was instantly killed.
Engineer C. E. Cullison of the the passenger, is so badly cut and bruised that fears are entertained for his recovery.
T. Wm. Sinclair, fireman of the passenger, had one leg cut off and sustained other injuries, probably fatal. Passengers badly shaken up but none seriously injured.
