Jean Ada Litts

Jan. 11, 1935 - March 9, 2008

Jean Ada Litts, 73, of Farmington, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 9, 2008, after a brief illness. Jean was born in Springer on Jan. 11, 1935, to Clarence and Rose May Hodgson. She was the fifth of seven children; four survive her.

Jean graduated from Farmington High School, when it was where Tibbetts Middle School is now. She was attending the University of New Mexico when she met Terry Liles, who was there from Texas to work in the oil fields. She quit college and married him in June of 1958. This marriage produced two daughters, Jacqueline Gail and Julie Ann. The marriage lasted 11 years and when it ended, Jean went to work to support her daughters.

She worked at McClellans first and then had jobs at Gibsons Discount Center and Walgreens when it was at the mall. Mom made many friends at her various jobs. She was friendly and kind, and everybody just loved her.

Her life revolved around her daughters and grandchildren, and her world was rocked when she lost her daughter, Julie to cancer in August 2006. She was still reeling from that when her granddaughter, Lacey died in June 2007 from alcohol poisoning.

Her life was so hard, but she was stronger than any of us knew, and she was raising her granddaughters, Lindsay and Kristin, when she fell ill.

Left to mourn her passing is her daughter, Jacqueline and husband, Michael Thomason; her grandchildren, Brady, Britton, Michael, Shane, Lindsay, Natalie, and Kristin. Mom is also survived by her brothers, Don and Johnny; sisters, Jane and Joan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mom was preceded in death by Julie and Lacey; her parents; her brother, Dale; sister, Evelyn; and brother-in-law, Roy.

We would like to thank the wonderful nurses at San Juan Regional Medical Center who were so kind and attentive to Mom, the amazing cardiologists, and especially Dr. Hoffman, who Mom was crazy about.

Rest in peace, Gram, till we meet again.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today, Thursday, March 13, at First United Methodist Church, 808 N. Monterey Ave. in Farmington.

Jean is in the care of Alternative Choice, Cremation and Funeral Services, 804 N. Dustin Ave. in Farmington; (505) 326-3671.
