Lucius Sloan "Jerry" Fowler, Jr., 84, of Valerie Drive, passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2012.
Born February 7, 1928 in Roswell, GA, he was the son of the late L. S. Fowler, Sr. and the late Corinne Garrett Fowler.
He was a graduate of Greenville Senior High and Furman University and was a founder and owner of B & F Roofing & Siding Co. Inc.
He was a veteran of the US Army, having served during World War II. He was a member of UCT 444, American Legion Post No 3, the VFW Post 1845, the Home Builders Association and the Greenville Civitan Club, which honored him with a lifetime membership.
Mr. Fowler was a longtime supporter of North Greenville University, which presented him with an Honorary Doctorate Degree.
He was a member of Pendleton Street Baptist Church.
He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Martha Williams Fowler.
Surviving are his children: William Thomas Fowler (Jo Anne) of Greenville, SC, Pamela Annette Copeland (Heath) of Clinton, SC, Kathy Capps (Kerry) of Liberty, SC, Lucius S. "Jerry" Fowler III (Janet) of Greenville, SC and Jonathan Allen Fowler (Kathryn) of Knoxville, TN; two sisters, Norma Crume of Greenville, SC and Patsy Lloyd of Greenwood, SC; thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Mr. Fowler's life will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Bill Fowler and Dr. Jimmy Epting officiating.
A private family graveside service will be held in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Monday, July 30, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at The Mackey Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Martha W. Fowler Scholarship Fund at North Greenville University.
