Hiram Mahoney Died June 3rd
Funeral services for the late Hiram B. Mahoney will be held at the Community Church in Broadus this Friday afternoon, at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Harold W. Heckman officiating.
Hiram B. Mahoney passed away in his sleep early Tuesday morning at his ranch home on Little Powder River. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Mr. Mahoney had been in poor health for the past year and had had a close call last winter. He was feeling rather well on Monday and had driven to the home of neighbors.
Hiram Benjamin Mahoney was born at Magnolia, Iowa, March 31, 1891. It was here that he grew to young manhood and was married to Dora Edna Murphy in November 1910. To this union were born 8 children of whom five are living. Mrs. Mahoney passed away in November 1937.
The Mahoney family moved to the Bay Horse community in 1916 where they established a ranch and where they lived until 1934 when Mr. Mahoney bought the place on Little Powder, where he has lived ever since. He was married in November 1943 to Vera Elkins at Redwing, Minn.
He is survived by his widow, and by the five children, Mrs. Jock Sanburn of Bay Horse, Mrs. Lester Phillippi of Boyes, Mrs. Evelyn Hopkins of Richmond, Calif., Mrs. Glen Riter and Gerald Mahoney of Broadus.
Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery at Broadus. Pallbearers are Jock Sanburn, Lester Phillippi, Durward Waldusky, Billy Clampet, Glen Riter and Jimmy Sanburn.
