Agnes Madora Chewning Stephens of Spotsylvania County died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007, at Golden Living Center of Fredericksburg. Born July 2, 1914, in Mine Run, she was the daughter of the late Irvin M. and Myrtle A. Chewning and the wife of Burville H. "Buck" Stephens.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in law, Agnes and George Randall, Nancy and Joe Van Devender, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jones; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Stephens was the oldest member of New Hope Baptist Church. She also was a member of the Washington Lewis Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution and the Fredericksburg chapter of the Daughters of the Confederacy.
