Mrs. Kate Hillis of Herrick twp died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. O.H. Marsh at Landsdowne, Pa., on Tuesday, May 21,1946. Born in Herrick twp, Mrs. Hillis was the youngest daughter of the late Pembroke and Harriett (Lafferty) Squires. Her husband, the late R. Stewart Hillis, preceded her in death twenty-five years ago. Mrs. Hillis suffered a stroke on January 3 last and had declined in health since.She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Guy Smith and Mrs. O.H. Marsh of Landsdowne, Pa.; Mrs. C.O. Chaney of Johnson City, and one son, W. Charles Hillis of Herrickville; a sister Mrs. Jennie Mahoney of San Diego, Cal, nine grandchildren and one great-grandaughter also survive her. The funeral services were held on Friday afternoon at the home of her son , at Herrickville. Rev. John A. Sensenig of the Wyalusing Presbyterian Church officiating. The pall bearers were Messrs. M.H. Durand, M.G. Elliott, E.B. Hillis, T.D. Reinhart, Leon Taylor and William Taylor. Burial was made at the Camptown Cemetary. Those from a distance who attended the services were, Mrs. Emma Stevens, Binghamton. Mrs. Herman Perella, Mrs. Ira Thomas, Mr. and Mrs.Charles Garrison and Mr. and Mrs.Mark Verbryc of Johnson City; Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Jennings, Mrs. Jaquish and Mrs. Amy Harding of Tunhannock and Dana Felton of New York City.
