OBITUARY: Anarpa Hoover died August 20, 1894, at 4:30 o'clock p.m., aged 48 years, 8 months and 20 days. [NOTE: Her memorial stone lists "July 22, 1894" as the date of death].
.
Mrs. Hoover was the daughter of Israel and Ann Huffaker and was born in Hancock County, Illinois, on January 1, 1846. She was united in marriage to James Hoover in February, 1867. Sixteen years afterward, in 1883, Mr. Hoover died very suddenly. Mrs. Hoover was the mother of 7 children, 4 of whom survive her. Few mortals, indeed, are destined to suffer the pain experienced by her of whom we speak. For 30 years she has been an invalid and several times in that period friends have been summoned to her sick-bed, supposing that her time on earth was short. Each time, however, she has seemed to miraculously pass by death's door and revive only to suffer more. But on last Wednesday, the frail body, unable to further stand its misery, gently succumbed and Mrs. Hoover quietly dropped to sleep.
.
The remains were interred in the Silver City cemetery alongside of those of her husband. Rev. Cable, of the M.E. church, conducted the funeral obsequies. [End].
