Lois May Schaefer, 82, of Walnut Ridge died Wednesday evening, Aug. 11, 2010, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

She was born Aug. 23, 1926, in Walnut Ridge to the late Bentley and Flora Michael Cooprider.

She married the late Henry F. Schaefer on Aug. 2, 1969, in Evansville, Ind. She was a homemaker and member of the Gethsemane Baptist Church of Walnut Ridge.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her son, John Newcomb, and three sisters, Juanita Burton, Grace Walker and Beulah Foster.

Mrs. Schaefer is survived by her son, James Newcomb of Evansville, Ind.; daughter-in-law, Donna Newcomb of Walnut Ridge; sister, Flois Collins of Walnut Ridge; and four grandchildren. Numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and one great-great-grandchild also mourn her passing.

Graveside services and interment were held at Tupman Cemetery in Evansville.
