Born Nov. 11, 1918, in Montgomery, she was the daughter of Virgil C. and Mary L. (McAtee) Grannan.
A 1936 graduate of Washington Catholic High School, she had worked in the cafeteria at Washington Catholic Schools and was a past assistant teacher for Daviess County Headstart. She was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Legion of Mary, Daughters of Isabella, Early Morning Homemakers Club, Daviess Community Hospital Auxiliary, Retired Senior Volunteer Program and Thursday Noon Club.
She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, John H. Dant of California, Thomas L. and Sally Dant of Fontana, Calif., James F. and Terri Dant of Washington, Robert L. and Glenda Dant of St. George, Utah; two daughters and sons-in-law, Judith and Richard Kramer of Battle Ground, and Mary Jane and Berry Luebke of Montgomery; one daughter-in-law, Cindy (Luebke) Dant of Vincennes; one brother and sister-in-law, Charles E. "Gus" and Wilma Grannan of Clarksville; eight granddaughters; two grandsons; three stepgranddaughters; two stepgrandsons; five great-granddaughters; seven great-grandsons; three stepgreat-grandsons; and special friends from church and card groups.
Her husband, Howard Dant, whom she married Sept. 30, 1940, died Jan. 6, 1990. She is also preceded in death by a son, Steven A. Dant; five brothers, Nicholas J. Grannan, Cletus J. Grannan, Gervase A. Grannan, Thomas G. Grannan and Augustine V. "Ottie" Grannan; four sisters, Bridget Douglas, Margaret H. Grannan, Rita E. (Grannan) Mischler and Mary R. "Becky" Walker; and one grandson-in-law, Paul Brewer.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, with Rev. Gordon Mann as celebrant. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery.
Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ed Lee Mortuary, with a wake service at 4 p.m. and a Daughters of Isabella rosary at 7:30 p.m.
