Nellie Mae Eure Doughtie, 84, of Rt. 1, died early Saturday morning, March 18, 1995, in Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.
Mrs. Doughtie was born in Gates County. The daughter of the late Daniel Bruce and Mrs. Ada Umphlett Eure, she was a member of Eure Christian Church and had served as the secretary-treasurer of the Women's Missionary Society. A homemaker, she was the wife of the late Arthur Thomas Doughtie.
Surviving are three daughters, Emily D. Eure of Chesapeake, VA; Shirlie D. Pope of Eure; and Erma D. Eure of Gatesville; one son, W.T. ''Sonny'' Doughtie of Eure; two sisters, Ludia Edwards of Ahoskie; and Clementine Eure of Portsmouth, VA; ten grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00p.m. Sunday in Eure Christian Church by the Rev. Wayne Gardner. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, handling arrangements. Friends may join the family at the home of Shirlie Pope, Turner Road, Eure, and after the service in the social hall of the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gates County Rescue Squad.
