Mrs. Mary Ann Benson


On Friday evening at 4.30 o'clock the death angel entered the community of Troughcreek Valley, Huntingdon county, and took from her friends Mrs. Mary Ann Benson, wife of Perry Benson.


Mrs. Benson's maiden name was Baker; she was born in Troughcreek Valley where she grew to womanhood. October 4, 1855, she was united in marriage to Perry Benson at Martinsburg. She was a devoted member of the Methodist church for over half a century. This was the first death in Mr. Benson's family. She leaves a husband and three sons – Calvin of Newberg, Martin, of Pittsburg, and Clayton, of Lewistown.


A year ago they celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of their wedding. She was aged 69 years.

On the 4th inst. at G. R. Parsonage, Martinsburg, by the Rev. J. Heller, Mr. GEORGE WERTZ, to Miss FANNY BRECHMAN, both of Middle Woodbury Township, Bedford County, Pa.


On the same day, by the same, at the Hotel of Major Snider, Mr. PERRY BENSON, to Miss MARY A. BAKER, both of Huntingdon County, Pa.
